Obituary: Philip J. Gastreich (Dec. 19, 1933 - Jul. 31, 2010)

Mr. Philip J. Gastreich, 76, of New Haven passed away Sat., July 31, 2010 at SSM St. Clare Health Center, Fenton, Mo.

Mr. Gastreich was born in St. Louis on Dec. 19, 1933, the son of the late Philip J. and Marie Gastreich.

He was affiliated with Assumption Church New Haven, Mo.

He worked as a millwright at Granite City Steel, Granite City, Illinois.  He also worked at National Lead Co. in Lemay, Mo.

He was the widower of Norine V. (Kemper) Gastreich; they were married in St. Louis.

Melvin Charles Beul, 94, of Wentzville, Mo., formerly of Pershing, Mo., passed away on Fri., Jul. 30, 2010 at Twin Oaks at Heritage Pointe, Wentzville.

Mr. Beul was born in Pershing on Aug. 15, 1915, the son of the late Charles H. and Louise (Hilgenstoehler) Beul.

Franklin and Gasconade County deputies work together to apprehend Rosebud man Tuesday night

On July 27, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office received information from an individual stating they witnessed an assault at the intersection of Springfield Road and Hwy 50 near the Franklin, Gasconade County line.  Vehicles involved in the assault were a red passenger car and black Durango.   Upon arrival of the deputy, the Durango backed up and drove at the deputy nearly striking the patrol car.  The vehicle fled the area.  The deputy observed a female passenger in the vehicle who appeared to be crying.

Hermann Streets Director John Campbell told CNL today that unexpected drainage issues at the Gellert St. work site have delayed asphalt paving into early August.

If you are on the Hermann water system and you're going to do laundry today, Fire Chief Dave Schulte suggests you get it done before 7:00 p.m. or wait until tomorrow.

At 7:00 p.m. tonight (Tue., Jul. 27, 2010), the Hermann Area Volunteer Fire Department begins its annual fire hydrant flush.  The fastest the job can be completed would be two hours, and it could take longer, depending on manpower.

A message from Montgomery County Sheriff Bob Davis -- Weather was a disappointment for County Fair goers last week

The weather wasn’t kind to the Montgomery County fair this year. Tuesday night the fair was rained out by 10:30pm, the same thing happened again on Saturday night. The other nights the heat combined with the humidity made it feel like you were walking around in bath water.
 

Gerald Car Show to feature Carl Edwards car

The Gerald Community Foundation will host the Classics at the Depot Car Show on Sun., Aug. 8 at the historic Rock Island Railroad Depot located in Legion Park at Gerald.   There will be 28 classes of cars and 8 special awards at the show.
