Legislate Speed Limits in BAD weather??
I'm the last person who wants the Government sticking it's nose into peoples lives and business, BUT it seems there are too many people with little to no common sense out there these days!!! That's why I'll ask the question of people here.. should the speed limits be cut, say, in HALF when the roads are in bad shape??? Looking at all the folks sliding off the roads, it is obvious some, if not many, are going way to fast. On our trip back from St. Louis Friday night I pulled off no less than 4 times to let those "speed demons" fly by!! This does NOT include the few who PASSED me in the other lane like it was dry, 85 and sunny out!! 4 wheel drive does NOT make you STOP any better!! Go yes, stop, NO!! Slide out in turns?? 2, 4 or 16 wheel drive makes no difference! With all the cars off the road on Hiway 100 the last few days, going no more than 25 to 30 tops seems to make a LOT of sense!!! What's 15 0r 20 minutes more travel time compared to WRECKING you car??? What do YOU think???
