
Hermann Volunteer Fire Department chief Dave Schulte told CNL that the recent wet weather has resulted in some new hay bales having a little extra moisture in them, and that actually makes them a higher risk for spontaneous combustion.
This week, there have been two large round bales in area farm fields start smoking from spontaneous combustion.

visited by about 15 customers when CNL was there at about 4:15 p.m.
